Ingredients

  • 1 single pie crust
  • 1 lb ground venison
  • 1/2 lb hot sausage
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 425°F.
  2. Prepare a single 9‑inch pie crust.
  3. Brown the ground venison and hot sausage in a skillet, then drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp oregano, 1/4 tsp pepper, 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs, 8‑oz can tomato sauce, 1/4 cup chopped onion, and 1/4 cup chopped green pepper.
  5. Pour the meat mixture into the prepared pie shell.
  6. In a bowl whisk together 1 egg, 1/4 cup milk, 1/2 tsp salt, Worcestershire sauce, and shredded cheese.
  7. Pour the custard mixture over the meat in the pie.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes until the top is golden and set.
