Barbecued Stuffed Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 3 dozen large shrimp
  • 1 cup cooked crab meat
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onions
  • 2 tablespoons chopped celery
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon chopped parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a skillet; sauté chopped onions, celery, and green pepper over medium heat.
  2. Stir in flour and milk, stirring constantly until thickened.
  3. Add bread crumbs, crab meat, Worcestershire sauce, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Remove shells and veins from shrimp, leaving tails on.
  5. Slit the backs of the shrimp.
  6. Put two shrimp together with the crab stuffing.
  7. Hold the shrimp together with toothpicks.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to cook.
  9. Place shrimp in a broiler pan, 5 inches from the broiler unit.
  10. Broil, basting occasionally with sauce, until shrimp are done, about 5 minutes on each side.
