Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup fresh whole wheat bread crumbs
  • 1 cup (4 oz.) Kraft natural shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine or beef broth

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, shredded Cheddar cheese, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, chopped parsley, dried basil leaves, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Shape the mixture into 12 meatballs.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet and brown the meatballs on all sides for about 5 minutes. Remove meatballs from the skillet.
  4. In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until tender.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir well.
  6. Gradually add beef broth and white wine (or additional beef broth), stirring constantly to create a sauce.
  7. Return the meatballs to the skillet, spoon sauce over them, and simmer until heated through.
